FULL BLOG!!!

For some reason, blogger has decided to not let me post any more images to this blog as I seem to have no free space left.

So here is the link to the second half where it should continue from the last post in each brief:

FINAL MAJOR PROJECT 2

**Yearbook Image Post can be found there too**

Jason Rubino

Jason Rubino and Make Studio have designed these 3D typography designs for brands in a really simple, clean cut way. This isn't necessarily the look that I am trying to achieve, as I want it to look more fun, relaxed and handcrafted (and I am not designing branding as such - more a themed look for the summer range of H&M), but they are good examples for me to see how a variety of typefaces can work as pieces by themselves.

Pablo Alfieri

To be able to visualise how my hand crafted type could work in the environment as well as in print, I want to research environmental, retail and 3D type and thought where better to start than Pablo Alfieri and his Playful collection that has now had a re-launch for the new website. Here is some of his work:

The image above is to show how Pablo has decided to represent the 3D type in print, something that I will have to think about. He also experiments with other media, such as plasticine (below) which is a good place to start for me to practise moulding my hand drawn designs into 3D creations.

These other promotional designs for Chevrolet are also inspiring, as my type will have a summer theme so little added features are what will make it unique like the lettering below.

Liz Kay II

The idea behind my brief is to play with type and produce quirky lettering suited to a retail context. This is a really good example of what I imagined when I read the brief. Liz Kay makes each letter unique with a really simple but high quality standard hand drawn finish. Obvious imagery is incorporated but I think sometimes the things you associate the most with themes and topics like winter here are often the best ideas to go with as everyone relates to them.
